UK prepared to deploy soldiers to protect Nato allies should Russia invade Ukraine, PM Boris Johnson says
Britain is prepared to deploy troops to protect Nato allies in Europe if Russia invades Ukraine, Boris Johnson has said in a Commons statement.
The US has put 8,500 troops on alert to deploy at short notice, which Russia said caused it "great concern". "And we agreed on the necessity of finalising these measures as swiftly as possible in order to maximise their deterrent effect," he added.
