Transport for Greater Manchester is reviewing its advertising policy

Junk food adverts could be banned on all buses and trams in Greater Manchester. Transport for Greater Manchester is reviewing its advertising policy which could result in restrictions on adverts featuring foods that are high in sugar, salt and fat.

Earlier this year, councillors requested a review of TfGM's advertising policy to make sure it aligns with other objectives in the city-region. That review is now under way with a report set to be brought to the Bee Network committee 'in the near future'. Oldham council agreed to raise the matter with Greater Manchester's leaders in January 2021. This latest development comes after the issue was raised at the first meeting of the new Bee Network committee in July where a review was requested.
