Kate Winslet is starting alongside her daughter Mia in the third instalment of Channel 4’s I Am, which airs tomorrow (8 December).
Developed and co-authored by Winslet alongside Dominic Savage, the story follows a mother and daughter’s increasingly strained relationship as the latter begins to struggle with herAnd if the trailer is anything to go by, the show, which airs this week, is going to be a true emotional rollercoaster. Each of the episodes is created, written and directed by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Dominic Savage in partnership with the lead actor – and explores the experiences of women in situations that are “emotionally raw, thought-provoking and personal”., Winslet said she hoped the show would start a “conversation” about the difficulties parents and teenagers face when it comes to navigating the world of social media.
“We want it to be an opening for conversation,” she said. “We want to create a space in which people can say, ‘Oh my god, that’s us. That’s happening to us’ and maybe not dismiss it as, ‘Well, that’s happening to everyone, what are you going to do? How are you going to stop them?’.”Winslet continued: “And you know, I don’t have any answers.
