Before falling in love again with her now-partner Bobby, Katherine Ryan took proactive steps to ensure she could have children if she wanted… by buying frozen sperm.
The comedian, 39, candidly revealed in her new Sky comedy special, Missus, that she had ordered the seamen due to fears about her fertility, but ‘put it on hold’ after rekindling a romance with her childhood sweetheart.‘I purchased frozen sperm because I was 35 and the narrative shifts for the ladies, doesn’t it?’ Katherine told the audience at her Scottish show.
‘It starts to be like “Ooh, watch out, what are you going to do about babies? Your fertility is falling off a cliff.” Why such a violent metaphor? ‘Why does my fertility have to be a coyote with dynamite in its tea? Why can’t my fertility just pass out in a sun lounger? Poking fun at the incessant reminders that women have a biological clock, Katherine continued: ‘Remember, hurry, hurry, find a d*ck, any d*ck, and sit on it now.’ She then reminded the crowd that this panic might be unnecessary. ‘You don’t have to worry, your fertility doesn’t necessarily fall off a cliff at 35, you just don’t know any better because they haven’t bothered to do any studies about us in 150 years.’Katherine and Bobby have been married for three years, but the pair first met in their younger years, dating when they were just 15.
