A girls' football team in Kent has received a welcome funding boost. Inspired by England’s World Cup women’s football team, Active Life, - a sports, leisure, and fitness charity that runs The Bay Sports Arena and Herons Leisure Centre in Herne Bay - has selected Herne Bay Youth Rangers U13's as the latest winners of their new initiative.
This announcement comes hot on the heels of England’s 6-1 win against China. Nominations poured in from parents and fans with the Herne Bay Rangers being a firm favourite with the judging panel.The girls are a fantastic bunch of resilient, hardworking girls who strive for success as a team. Girls football has come on such a long way and these girls watch and support the England ladies, aspiring to be like them each time they play.
The Rangers is the girls' section of Herne Bay Youth who have been running for many years. The team train at the Herne Bay Sports Hub every week, making use of a 3G pitch they were gifted for just £1 by Quinn Estates. Justin West, of Herne Bay Rangers, said:"We are absolutely delighted to have won Active Life's prize in support of a grassroots team. We will be using the prize money to help fund the purchase of a VEO 2 camera that we can use in training to improve performance and also to share match footage with the girls so they and their families can keep them and look back over their time at the club in years to come.
