Asda worker Gillian Robertson has been praised for going above and beyond to help an elderly customer who faced being stranded with her shopping at the Blantyre store.
Gillian Robertson was due to finish her shift at Asda Blantyre when her customer told her she was going to struggle to get her shopping home as she had bought more than expected.
The 19-year-old decided she would give up her own time to help the woman, who lived at nearby sheltered housing complex.Gillian hopped off her check out and carried the woman's shopping for her. Mary Sutherland, the store's community champion, said: "The lady uses a walking aid so Gillian carried the shopping for her and had a wee chat on the way.
"It was so lovely what Gillian did and the lady was so grateful. Gillian always has a little chat with her when she comes to her checkout, so it was nice for her to chat for longer and the lady really appreciated it "We are a community store here and put our customers at the heart of everything.
