The King will inform the Prince and Princess of Wales of his decision on what roles they will play.
King Charles III is set to hold a royal summit to decide the future of the monarchy, according to royal sources.
A close source to the King, heading for Scotland on Monday where the summit will be held at Balmoral, said: "His Majesty is very clear. The Commonwealth must be at the very heart of his reign. The source also stated that the monarch sees the roles of his eldest son and his wife as "being at the heart of cementing their own future and that of the monarchy at large".
This trip may invoke memories of the late Queen, as Kenya was where she learned of the death of her father King George VI in February 1952, becoming Queen aged 25. Charles will also remind family members that the major Commonwealth realms must be brought closer to Britain.
