Cleethorpes’ own bagpipe-playing cop bags the King’s Police Medal
A world record bagpipe-playing police officer from Cleethorpes has been awarded the King’s Police Medal for distinguished service.
He found out about the award back in April and told The Lincolnite: “If you know me, you’ll know that keeping a secret and not speaking about something is really difficult. “It means a huge amount and is an absolutely huge honour. If you look back on the rank that normally gets the King’s Police Medal, it is usually Chief and Deputy Chief Constables, so I am deeply honoured.
He added: “If my mum and dad are looking down on me they’d be proud of what I’ve achieved. It’s just nice to be thanked and recognised. I am very proud.” He joined Humberside Police as a PCSO for Grimsby in 2006. In 2009, he became a Police Constable for the force and now serves the whole of Hull. He said he had a float including a motorcyclist, four police cars, and an open top bus with four members of the police band, while Daniel was on foot.
