The bench was designed by Nigel Searle and created by blacksmiths Pete Clutterbuck, John Duffield and Patrick Mannerings. It also features oak leaves that reference the centuries-old tradition of using English oak in manufacture and construction, and the birds among the leaves are representative of the King's position as patron for the RSPB, as well as His Majesty's love of the countryside, Fareham Borough Council said.
The arch that forms the back of the seat refers to the King's love of architecture, with the curved seat representing the landscape. Councillor Susan Walker, executive member for leisure and community, said: "The design and construction of the bench is a thoughtful and fitting tribute to His Majesty and will serve as a focal point in the park for many years to come."
