The King and Queen have now arrived at Westminster Abbey for their coronation
for Brits, the majority of whom have never witnessed a new monarch take to the throne until now. The last coronation in the UK occurred 70 years ago in 1953, when Queen Elizabeth was crowned at the age of 27 following the death of her father.at 11am. Following the service, which will be led by the Archbishop of Canterbury and attended by around 2,000 invited guests, the newly crowned King and Queen will embark on their return journey, travelling in the Gold State Coach.
Millions of people are expected to tune in to watch the celebrations on television, while big screens have also been put up across Greater Manchester and the rest of the UK so people can watch the proceedings together. Thousands of street parties will also be put on across Saturday, Sunday and Monday to mark the special occasion.
