The King has offered “heartfelt thanks” to people involved in the Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) after the initiative announced it has planted more than three million trees.

Charles said: “It is hard to believe that two years have passed since my mother and I planted a tree in Windsor Great Park to mark the commencement of the Queen’s Green Canopy. In celebration, the King and the Prince of Wales planted one of the final trees, an acer, in the gardens of Sandringham House.Sir David Attenborough, a QGC ambassador, planted a tree in Richmond Park to mark the closure of the second planting season.
