Tranquil Lake District spot that's among best places to escape a busy life
Ullswater is famed for its striking vintage cruise vessels, breath taking views, glistening open water and watersports. But there's a new addition for that list in the shape of wild camping.
The second largest lake in the Lake District has seen a huge surge of 22,370 combined Google searches per month in the UK as the ideal location for wild camping, according to a new study. The peaceful and varied setting includes a solid cultural heritage and history in the form of ancient sites, standing stones and archaeological remains, adding more weight to its appeal.
Campers can sleep under the stars, with the sound f the water rippled lapping the pebbled shore and revel in the serenity of the surroundings. But don't worry if you need to pick up supplies, dine out, grab a drink or sample a snippet of life away from the stunning glacial lake, with Patterdale, Pooley Bridge and Glenridding all nearby to explore.
