St Andrew's Hospice volunteers hope an orchestra programme signed by a future prime minister will help bring in vital income at their special event
A Lanarkshire charity shop gearing up to host its first-ever antiques fayre has a star attraction for sale – a 111-year-old concert programme signed by a virtuoso pianist who went on to become prime minister of Poland.
The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories, and allows you to customise your page to the sections that matter most to you.He has spent all year setting aside vintage and unusual donations handed in to the Main Street store and the hospice’s 11 other shops across Lanarkshire, and was particularly intrigued to find out the story behind the Paderewski programme.
“We’ve been in touch with a couple of auctioneers, who say it’s potentially worth around £200, and we’ve also contacted the Polish Embassy who were interested because of who he is. They also include a vintage Lincoln Bennett top hat carrying a royal warrant from King George V, the father of the late Queen Elizabeth; and an ornate illustrated family Bible dating back to the 1800s.
