A Lanarkshire dad who kicked a 17-year addiction to cocaine and Valium with the help of mental health groups is launching his own. Paul Barrett, from Blantyre, had struggled with substance abuse since he was a teenager, racking up huge debts as he struggled to cope with his mental health.

Paul Barrett, from Blantyre, had struggled with substance abuse since he was a teenager, racking up huge debts as he struggled to cope with his mental health . The 34-year-old believed he would die from his dependence on cocaine and street Valium which saw him sent to jail for robbery and stealing from family.

The dad decided he needed to turn his life around following a bout of drug-induced psychosis which left him fearing he had killed someone and was being followed. He turned to the charity Turning Point who directed him to the podcast Binge with Catrina and mental health group Keep the Hei
