Lancashire crew hoping to win Redbull Soapbox race in duck car made from 'screws and glue'
A group of wacky racers from Lancaster and Blackpool are rearing up to launch their self-made vehicle down a hill as Red Bull's Soapbox Race returns to Alexandra Palace next month.
"I said I'm really into that, we should give it a go. Its fulfilling her dream I suppose. My brother wanted to do it years ago with my dad and they talked a lot about it, but never got round to doing it. My dad passed away and they just didn't do it, that's why I roped Garry into doing it as well. Its nice to kill two birds with one stone!"
During the building process, Elise says they learned a couple of things, most importantly "how steering does and doesn't work". She adds: "That was a good start but we've learned a lot because we had no experience." "Our strengths our mainly the creative side, it looks good, it might not work and it could fall apart on the first corner.." John laughed.
