A charity football match will take place in December to raise funds for the treatment of a Blackburn man with an aggressive type of skin cancer

.

The fixture at AFC Darwen’s ground in Anchor Road, Darwen, will raise cash for Elliott Simpson. He has been diagnosed with stage four malignant melanoma, is self-funding his own skin treatment due to NHS red tape which has barred from receiving the second set of drugs needed to combat its spread. The game between a Lancashire Police 11 and a Lancashire Fire Brigade team will take place on Sunday October 9 at 3pm . Donations in aid of ‘Elliott CAN beat skin cancer’ will be taken on the gate.Elliott and his family are fundraising and holding charity events in order to raise around £180,000 for immunotherapy treatment, which would provide him with a better chance of survival.

The 26-year-old has previously told that his parents even considered selling their house to be able to afford the lifesaving treatment. They decided to set up a GoFundMe page which, so far, has raised more than £60,000 one third of the way to smashing the target.
