Lancashire police statement after reports of attempted abduction in Fleetwood
Fleetwood Area Police has confirmed that they received a report, as well as seen social media posts, on an attempted abduction in the Greenfield Road on Tuesday afternoon . Moving to calm fears over the alleged incident, officers have conducted a thorough investigation.
As part of this, officers spoke to a number of individuals and conducted house-to-house and CCTV enquiries. They are now satisfied that no criminal offence has taken place.Reports of the alleged abduction comes after police hunted a 'bearded man' in Fleetwood back in July. Officers were called to the scene on Blakiston Street on July 7, towards the junction of North Albion Street after a nine-year-old boy was grabbed by the arm and a man attempted to pull him away.
The young boy managed to free himself from the man's grip, but an investigation into the incident took place. Officers then appealed to the public for information in finding the man. Police say they are committed to taking reports like these seriously and encourage anyone who believes they are the victim of crime, or anyone who sees something suspicious should contact the police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
