Lancashire pubs, bars, hotels and restaurants under threat as they face crippling £4k energy price rise this spring
Businesses across Lancashire are set to face energy bill rises of more than £4,400, the Liberal Democrats has warned.
The forecasts are based on official government statistics and comes after the Government said that it will no longer cap energy costs for businesses. Instead, firms will get a discount on wholesale prices after the Government said the existing scheme is too costly. The current scheme is set to cost the Government about £18 billion over just six months, compared with £5.5 billion over a whole year for the new plan.
“Ministers in Westminster must not wait a moment more. Liberal Democrats are calling for them to intervene and think again about this change - if they don’t we could see thousands of businesses, including pubs, restaurants and cafes going bust. This could rip the heart out of our communities.”
