Residents are concerned
A licensing application for a new pub and restaurant has prompted concerns about potential late night noise and traffic problems, and worries that alleged bad behaviour seen around the venue in the past could return.
To support licensing objectives on public safety, preventing nuisance and disorder and protecting children , the application mentions CCTV, trained staff, good maintenance of facilities, procedures, risk assessments and having good relationships with neighbours and the authorities. But two people have written to the council to object. Their emails have been made anonymous on licensing reports.
"The former Coach House has neighbouring properties right up to its boundary wall. Residents cannot park outside there own houses as places are taken by pub-goers. When these revellers return to their cars, the slamming doors and loud voices keep residents awake. Beer bottles, glasses and gas canisters get thrown into front gardens. Even at the back of our properties, which is private, people still unashamedly park.
"The closing time of 1am on Sunday [morning] is absurd. Why is it necessary to be open an hour after alcohol is shut down and just who will monitor that very late hour? There is no mention of any monitoring of patrons at the front. No smoking signs are ignored, leading to countless cigarette ends being blown into my garden.
