Sandra and David Williams transferred money to family members rather than declare it
A husband and wife who tried to hide £50,000 from creditors when the pub they ran went into liquidation will not have to pay back a penny.
The property was sold in the following weeks however, with Sandra and David Williams receiving nearly £100,000 into their joint account. It was also established that they had earlier failed to declare income of £4,500 received following the sale of two Rolex watches to a local jeweller. Rather than co-operating with the trustee, they transferred the money to family members, the Insolvency Service said.
The couple did not attend court on that date, however the court heard that the Insolvency Service had established there were little or no funds available to make any payments. The Proceeds of Crime Application was then withdrawn.
