Shankland set hearts on their way to a dramatic comeback against Rosenborg to progress in the Europa Conference League
Lawrence Shankland has vowed to keep enjoying the big Hearts nights despite being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
The Jambos captain was on target against Rosenborg to spark a famous comeback that saw Steven Naismith's side through to the playoff round of the Europa Conference League. things looked bleak for the capital club when Isak Thorvaldsson fired the Norwegians into an early lead at Tynecastle, putting them 3-1 up on aggregate.
But Shankland's dinked finish on 12 minutes got the old Edinburgh ground rocking again, and from then on both sides went at each other in a Euro night for the ages under the lights in Gorgie. Cammy Devlin slammed home off the underside of the bar soon after the break to square things up on aggregate. And it was the Aussie's deflected strike deep into stoppage time that set up a date with PAOK back in EH11 next Thursday.
Shankland now has three goals in his first four games of the campaign. It's that sort of form that's getting him noticed in the Gulf, where the financial riches on offer can prove sorely tempting. But he's shut out speculation and is focused on creating more memories in maroon. He told BBC Scotland: "That's it. I live in the here and now and I'm enjoying my football here. I'm enjoying nights like this and I'll keep enjoying them."
