Police have identified the man suspected of murdering missing teenager Leah Croucher as a man who was working on the house where remains, believed to hers, were found.
Police searched the home after a tip-off from a member of the public on Monday and launched a murder investigation after discovering the bodyDCS Hunter said he believed it was possible that Maxwell had targeted Ms Croucher after seeing her as she was walking to work on a route that took her close to the property.
He said Leah’s route to work has always been subject to intense scrutiny throughout the investigation – which saw it visit 4,000 properties and view any CCTV they were able to obtain. DCS Hunter, said: “That’s impossible for me to answer at this stage. We will need to await the results of the Home Office post-mortem and take forward the investigation.”
