Emergency services raced to the scene
A motorbike learner driver has been rushed to hospital after a serious crash in Beeston this morning.
Shortly before 8am West Yorkshire Police officers were called to Westland Road, Leeds, following reports of a white van and motorbike crash between Westland Road and Cross Flatts Avenue. Around five police cars were in the area, and cordoned off the A653 Dewsbury Road. Local businesses were greeted to the site of debris from the damaged vehicles scattered across the road, outside the Broadway Hotel. The motorbike rider was found with serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital and is currently being treated.Traffic built up in the area and caused large queues and delays. A recover truck arrived at the scene around 10am, and police enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
Confirming the details of what happened, a spokesperson for WYP said: "At 7.37am, police were called by the ambulance service to reports of a serious road traffic collision involving a van and a motorbike on Westland Road, Leeds. "Officers attended and the motorcycle rider was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Temporary road closures have been put in place whilst enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing."
