The court heard Ashley's boyfriend was 'totally uncooperative' with the police investigation into her shooting
A court has heard that Ashley Dale's boyfriend passed by a police cordon outside their home after the shooting, having been on a night out.
Jurors previously heard that Ms Dale's phone made a one minute and 43 second voicemail call to Harrison at 12.33am on August 21 last year. He did not answer the phone at that time. He had first visited a Ladbrokes bookmakers and had "intended to watch the Anthony Joshua fight, but that had not worked out". Harrison instead "went into town", later receiving a call from Ms Dale around 11pm stating that there were "rats in the yard".
Mr Greaney asked Mr Rawsthorne of this: "Did he tell you he had no idea why Ashley or himself would be targeted?"Harrison "denied that he was under threat from anyone" and "couldn't offer any reason at all" as to why Ashley had been shot dead.
One officer described Harrison as being "nonchalant and unhelpful", while he "maintained he couldn’t believe Branch" - a nickname for another defendant, Niall Barry - "would be capable of killing Ashley, as their fallout had happened over three years before".
He also "stated they must have been off their heads on drugs when they did it", then began "ranting about his name having been in the Liverpool ECHO". Mr Rawsthorne said: "He wasn’t happy about that at all." The court heard that, at around 11.40pm on August 20 2022, two men approached Ashley’s white Volkswagen T-Roc car - which was parked outside the house - and slashed its tyres, causing the alarm to sound, in an effort to "lure" the occupants out. But it is thought Ashley believed the alarm had been set off by heavy rain and did not leave her house.
