Whelan insisted Jesse Marsch’s side looked “much better and more balanced” with Bamford leading the line against Arsenal.“However, we looked a much better and more balanced side in the second half when he came on and led the line.“We know how strikers work. They need that goal to give them a platform and the confidence to build on.
“I don’t think Bamford will care how the goal comes, he just needs to get on that scoring trail again. “His performance was sharp, good touch, good runs. On another day, he would’ve come away with two goals.”
