Daniel Levy is reportedly ready to pay Xabi Alonso’s release clause at Bayer Leverkusen as he steps up his search for the next Tottenham boss., the Spurs chairman is willing to pay the necessary fee to lure his number one target to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.Cristian StelliniLevy knows he will be unable to secure the services of the Spaniard this season with Leverkusen through to a Europa League semi-final date with Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
Alonso also appeared to quash any rumours of a move, insisting his focus is solely on finishing the season strongly with the Bundesliga side.“Rumours are normal but we still have a lot to achieve,” he said. “That’s why my head is 100 percent here for the last few months. And my head is also 100 per cent here for next season.”
But the chase for the impressive Alonso is by no means a foregone conclusion and with that in mind, Levy has lined up Feyenoord boss Arne Slot as another option. If Levy does turn his attention to Slot, he will have to pay up the final two years of the Dutchman’s contract with the Rotterdam club.who is on gardening leave after being sacked by Bayern Munich, meaning a payout for his services would be required.
