Lewis Bate has been forced to drop down to play for Leeds United U21s to get game time over the last few weeks
Lewis Bate is making the most of his time with Leeds United Under-21s this season as he continues to hone his game. That’s according to under-21 manager Michael Skubala, who is pleased to have Bate’s talent to call upon but has taken the opportunity to point out the improvements he is making and where he needs to continue growing.
“At times he can hold onto it too long and he needs to keep improving on that and I think here he gets a bit more time than he might be used to at higher levels of football, so he needs to keep improving on when and where to stay on it really, but he’s a very good technician. Leeds had chances to win the game, though, and Skubala was left ruing their inability to kill off the visitors.
“We changed a few things but we were sloppy with passes and we needed to improve. Maybe with these young players playing Hertha in the week and going again, it was probably too much, but that’s part of their learning to be a senior footballer, it’s physically demanding.”
