Lewis Hamilton was dramatically taken out of the Qatar Grand Prix at the first corner by teammate George Russell.
The seven-time world champion was trying to make a move on pole-sitter Max Verstappen, but was involved in a sandwich with his Mercedes teammate.Hamilton was sent spinning and his rear wheel broken off, instantly ending his race on the first lap. When asked if he was OK on team radio, Hamilton replied: "Yeah, but I got taken out by my own teammate."Later seemingly changing his feelings, Russell was then heard saying: "I'm so sorry guys, I wasn't even looking behind, I was just focusing ahead, he just came from nowhere. ARGHHH!!"Credit: F1 TV
Hamilton wasn't the only car that spun out, with Russell too facing backwards before collecting his Mercedes and continuing.Much like Russell, Hamilton had similarly simmered down after the incident, and took responsibility on team radio.
The Dutchman had earlier won his third world title in Saturday's sprint, where Mercedes lost out to both McLarens.
