With Messi famous for wearing the number 10 jersey, it’s tipped that he could be the face of the 1000 pesos note, equivalent to just under £5. It’s also suggested that on the back of the note it will say ‘La Scaloneta’ – the nickname of Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni.This comes after Argentina’s Central Bank introduced commercial coins to commemorate the country’s first World Cup victory back in 1978, something that they’re looking to emulate for the present day team as they continue their celebrations.
Messi and his Argentina have been enjoying a heck of a reception in their homeland as they celebrated their victory over France on Sunday. As you’d expect, the 35-year-old has been the star attraction after cementing his status as one of the greatest players of all time following his instrumental role in the victory over France in Qatar.
