An entrance to an East Midlands hospital has been closed off by police following an incident. Officers have been spotted outisde the A&E department at the Royal Derby Hospital,People arriving at the department are being redirected to a different car park. It is unclear when the entrance will be reopened currently.
Our colleagues as Derbyshire Live have contacted Derbyshire Police and Royal Derby Hospital for more informationJoseph ConnollyA spokesperson for Royal Derby Hospital said that, while Derbyshire police are leading on the incident, people intending to come to Royal Derby Hospital should not be deterred from doing so because of the presence of police.A witness was sat outside the A&E main entrance when the incident occurred.
Parking is free for thirty minutes in all Royal Derby Hospital car parks, meaning they can double up as drop-off points, but access to the A&E entrance will not be as immediate or close as it would be from the drop off points right outside.
