Some clubs don’t have much to win or lose in terms of Premier League prize money. Liverpool and Man Utd are in the same boat. But two teams have £20m at stake.
With the Premier League season coming to an end, the title, European qualification places and relegation battle remains undecided. But there is plenty at stake beyond those obvious rewards, with even those mid-table beach goers competing for a fair whack of money. Premier League prize money was calculated at about £2.2m a place for the 2021/22 season, meaning that the difference between finishing 12th and 13th is roughly a Michu with some change left over. And there can be no greater incentive for every team to keep pushing to the end.
Using that estimate of £2.2m per position, here is how much each club has left at stake based on the difference between their highest and lowest possible finishes this season.
