The Reds appealed against the decision to red card the midfielder during Saturday's clash with Spurs
Liverpool have confirmed that Curtis Jones is set to serve a three-match suspension after an appeal to overturn the red card he received at Tottenham Hotspur was unsuccessful.
However, Hooper upgraded his decision following VAR intervention after being told to check the monitor by Darren England. The ECHO understands that the original decision was overturned due to Jones’ studs showing and making contact above the ankle, prompting an offence that officials judged to be serious foul play.
Speaking after Saturday’s match, Jurgen Klopp shared his belief that he thought it was the wrong decision to send off the midfielder. “He had full power on the ball, rolls over the ball and then he hits the decisive part of the leg. When you see it in slow motion it looks horrendous but when you see it in real time it’s not even that close to being that bed. It wasn’t even close to being on purpose.
