Malcolm would explore the city on his days off work
In 1966, Malcolm Ballantine, from London, was working as a BBC outside broadcast engineer during the World Cup, which saw him based in Liverpool for a number of weeks.
And instead of returning home on his days off, Malcolm decided to stay and explore Liverpool, capturing life in the city through his lens. Staying in university accommodation near Penny Lane, Malcolm toured elsewhere in the city most days, everything from inner city streets of terraced housing to slum clearances, views from the waterfront and more.
