Match report from Stephen Killen as Liverpool under-18s seal 2-0 victory over Derby County
Liverpool under-18s returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory as they saw off Derby County at the AXA Training Centre.
Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s side were clinical in the first half and they had a second when Ahmed curled past Jack Thompson in the Rams net. Francis Gyimah and Kieran Morrison combined, with the latter rewarded for his fine work when the Egyptian doubled the Reds’ lead. However, it wasn’t plain sailing for Liverpool. Kornel Miscuir, on his first competitive start for the U18s, made four crucial stops to preserve his clean sheet in the opening 45.
Derby substitute Justin Oguntolu looked to halve the deficit late on but curled wide. Liverpool shifted into cruise control for the second-half and they strolled to victory.
