Convicted murderer Stuart McNab crashed into another motor and attacked the driver.
Stuart McNab crashed his BMW car into another motor before attacking the driver with a metal bar and wounding him with a screwdriver.
Mr Connolly was stabbed in the chest with the weapon but none of his internal organs was injured. A doctor went to his aid before he was taken to Monklands Hospital and his wound was closed with stitches. Police arrived in the street following a 999 call and saw the damaged vehicles and Mr Connolly lying in a nearby garden being helped by the doctor.
McNab earlier admitted assaulting Mr Connolly to his injury and the danger of his life, careless driving, possession of a prohibited weapon, the revolver, and ammunition and being concerned in the supply of the Class B drug amphetamine.
