Loose Women call on King Charles to mark general election for the new PM
The Loose Women panel urged King Charles III to implement a general election on Friday, following Liz Truss’ resignation as Prime Minister.
Panellists Nadia Sawalha, Judi Love, Frankie Bridge and Charlene White discussed their thoughts as they talked about the former Prime Minister’s note that there would be a “leadership election next week” in her resignation speech. “Give us the chance to have our say!” Nadia exclaimed. She then turned to Judi, as she said that the comedian had recently spent time with Charles and suggested that, perhaps, she could put forward the idea to him.
Charlene, 42, shared that King Charles “does hold the power to dissolve Parliament”, a power that was apparently last used by King William IV in 1834, marking the last time a monarch directly challenged a government authority elected by the public.
