Lorraine Kelly has praised NHS staff at a Lanarkshire hospital after she spoke out about her mum's care online.
The television presenter said she had been spending a lot of time with her mum over the last few days at University Hospital Monklands after 81-year-old Anne, was admitted. She took to Twitter to praise the hard work of staff, explaining: "Having spent a lot of time over the past few days with my mum in @UHMonklands hospital I’ve seen again just how kind, caring, hard working, funny and downright fabulous our NHS workers are 'thank you' doesn’t begin to cover it."Her post generated an avalanche of support for Lorraine's mum and the NHS, with one woman commenting: "Lorraine, you speak for myself and all my family with your experience.
Another added: "Best wishes to your mum Lorraine. The hospitals in Glasgow did a fantastic job looking after my wee sister when she had cancer and my mum too. Sadly my mum died aged 57 in 1996, but my sister has survived cancer twice and never looked back. Our NHS and staff are fantastic." And a third added: "My dad passed away in Monklands and they couldn’t do enough for us. I was in Carnoustie when he died but they kept him in the ward until I could get there. When I collected the death paperwork from them they cried and told me they were sorry they couldn’t save him."
