In marking their incredible blue sapphire milestone, John and Christine Brymer were proud to get a card from the King and Queen consort

John and Christine Brymer were congratulated by family and friends on Wednesday, September 27 having spent a combined 130 years in each other’s company.

In celebration of their blue sapphire anniversary they were proud to get a card from the King and Queen.John, originally from Abercairnie, near Perth, was introduced to Christine at a dance in the old Public Hall in Comrie in 1958.When they chose to get married in Comrie White Church, it was an amazing double wedding with Christine’s brother Billy Ferguson marrying John’s sister Ruth Brymer.

Asked for their secret to such a long relationship, ‘quiet man’ John, previously a Water Board inspector, quipped it was compromise that provided the essential glue: “Always say ‘yes, dear’ and avoid any argument,” he told the PA.
