Another record-setting day for women's basketball 🙌 LSU vs. Virginia Tech and South Carolina vs. Iowa combined to become the most-viewed Women’s Final Four matchups ever.

Hawkeyes versus Gamecocks garnered 5.5 million viewers with a peak of 6.6 million.These games were the two most-viewed college basketball games ever on ESPN+, averaging 4.5 million viewers.Iowa-South Carolina is a matchup that so many people have been wanting for the last two years — an offense led by a generational talent versus one of the best and deepest defensive teams in the recent history of women’s basketball.

and Aliyah Boston as the headliners — the last two national players of the year, and two of the best individual players women’s college basketball has had over the last decade.Everyone was hoping these two teams would meet in the Elite Eight in the Greensboro Region a season ago when South Carolina was the No. 1 seed and Iowa was the No. 2 seed. But Iowa lost toin the second round and the matchup never happened.

So, the anticipation, the star power and the buildup definitely brought a lot of people in the door, and the fact that game was as tightly contested as it was kept people watching. — We’ll see. It’ll help that the game is on ABC instead of ESPN. And though Iowa-LSU doesn’t have the two-year buildup that Iowa-South Carolina did, there are intriguing storylines abound, and plenty of star power to fuel this game.

If ticket prices are any indicator of potential TV numbers, this game is going to draw big again. The lowest-cost ticket for the title game as of Saturday night on Ticketmaster was $400 for a single seat that was 14 rows from the rafters. If you’re aiming to sit lower bowl, you’re looking at $1,000. If people want to watch this game on television as much as they do in person, we should see more record-breaking numbers, again. — There’s going to be a lot of talk on the Clark effect of this viewership — and unquestionably there is major interest in the Iowa star. Iowa’s Elite Eight game drew a massive 2.5 million viewers, the most-watched tournament game outside the Final Four.
