M.E.N. readers furious over 'disgusting' sentence for 123mph killer boy racer Adil Iqbal
A 12-year sentence for the 123mph boy racer who killed a mum and her unborn child has been met with fury by Manchester Evening News readers. Adil Iqbal, 22, was told he would serve two-thirds of the sentence by Judge Maurice Greene today .
Lesley Jelley wrote: "I don't think two-thirds of 12 years is enough. He should be banned from driving for life. It won't stop these young lads they think they are invincible." Carla Mansley wrote: "Absolutely disgusting that poor family must be mortified. Nowhere near long enough!!!! He took her and her baby’s life!" Andrew Beare said: "Should have been life....simple."
Prosecuting, Rob Hall said Iqbal had previously had his driving licence revoked in 2020 after being found behind the wheel without insurance. Four months after passing a re-test, he posted a video on Facebook of him in Dubai driving a Lamborghini on a public road, using ‘hard acceleration’ and reaching ‘high speed'.
