It comes as thousands make their way to Leeds Festival this afternoon
Two lanes have been closed on the way to Leeds Festival following a vehicle fire.
Eyewitnesses reported heavy traffic was building up on the M1 Southbound at around 3pm, from J47 at A656 Garforth and Micklefield, to J46 at A6120, William Parkin Way, Colton, and Garforth. An eyewitness reports a small white van has caught fire. West Yorkshire Police officers are at the scene.The incident is causing a number of delays. It comes as roads are busy around the Leeds area today as many festivalgoers travel to Leeds Festival at Bramham Park.
National Highways issued a warning about roads surrounding Leeds Festival this week. The warning said: "If you’re not attending, allow plenty of time for journeys in the area, avoiding festival arrival and departure times. The A1, A1, M1, M62 and A64 will be busy."
