The extensive project includes resurfacing and eplacing road markings, bridge joints and traffic count loops
Six nights of full closures on both sides of the motorway are planned for the stretch between Junctions 27 and 28 as part of an overall project which will last four four months. Work to resurface and improve that section of the M6 in Lancashire is due to begin this month and will also involved replacing road markings, bridge joints and traffic count loops.
The resurfacing work is due to start on Monday 24 October and National Highways is aiming to complete the resurfacing by Monday 19 December. Bridge joint and traffic count loop repairs will be starting Wednesday 1 February and be completed by the end of February 2023.Work will take place Monday to Friday between 8pm and 5am . During these works, overnight lane closures will be in place for safety.
The dates for these closures are yet to be confirmed but National Highways says advance notice will be given and clearly signed diversion routes will be in place. Rob Williams, National Highways’ programme delivery manager, said: “Those living in properties close to this location may notice an increase in noise and we would like to apologise for any disturbance this may cause.
"We will be following industry best practice to ensure noise is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to our schedule, but unforeseen circumstances such as severe weather conditions may mean slight changes occur at short notice.”
