Alcohol prices will soon rise due to a major change is made in the way drinks are taxed. As announced in the Spring Budget 2023, the Government will increase the duty rates on alcohol from August 1 by 10.1 per cent in line with inflation, impacting drinkers and businesses involved in the manufacture, distribution, holding, sale and consumption of alcohol.
The Government has said it will support the hospitality industry and recognise the "vital role" played by pubs by increasing the Draught Relief duty differential from 5 percent to 9.2 percent for qualifying beer and cider and from 20 percent to 23 percent for qualifying wine, other fermented products and spirits.
