The road has now reopened - latest
A major road was shut off by police this morning due to an 'ongoing incident'.
Oxford Road was shut off in both directions between Booth Street West and Dover Street on Sunday morning. The closure came into force at around 6.20am. It is not yet known what caused the closure, but travel services reported it was due to a crash. Bus services were being forced to divert and police were called to the scene.Transport for Greater Manchester earlier tweeted: "Oxford Road is closed between Booth Street West & Dover Street in both directions due to an ongoing police incident.
"All local buses are diverting via Hathersage Road, Upper Brook Street and Booth Street East in both directions." Travel service Inrix said: "Oxford Road in both directions closed due to accident investigation work between Dover Street and Booth Street East."This is a breaking news blog.
