'I think it's a good idea for the bus station to be done up'
Improvements to Bulwell bus station are being made as part of a major revamp which has been welcomed by passengers. Many people feel the refurbishment is 'much-needed'.
It will also be made more environmentally-friendly and sustainable through solar powered bus shelter lighting, and new greenery will be introduced in planters along the footpaths to increase biodiversity. Nottingham and Derby City councils have secured £161million from the Department of Transport to invest in local transport infrastructure.The station will be closed while the work takes place. It will reopen on April 20.
Charlotte Danneson, 36, said: "It is needed, it's much-needed. There aren't enough seats. In the rain, you mostly get wet and it needs to be modernised." At the end of April, a formal opening ceremony for the bus station will be held. Graham Rawlinson, 61, is from Strelley. He uses Bulwell bus station now and again.
