Neil Lorimer, aged 49, attacked the woman in Shrewsbury on November 14 last year.
He pleaded not guilty to assault by beating at Kidderminster Magistrates Court, but was found guilty by District Judge Ian Strongman.
As well as the fine, Lorimer, of Sotherby Drive, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, was also handed a two-year community order including 150 hours unpaid work. He must also pay £850 prosecution costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
