Man charged with attempting to kidnap a child from Aldi bagging area
A MAN has been arrested and charged with attempted kidnap after a stranger was spotted picking a child up at an Aldi supermarket.
Sergejus Paskevicius, 59, from Heywood in Rochdale, Gtr Manchester, will appear in court today accused of attempted child abduction.Credit: Google Maps CCTV footage shows a man in the bagging area of the Heywood Aldi seemingly attempting to talk to a child at 5.45pm on 23 July, police said. After apparently trying to talk to the child, the man then appeared to pick the youngster up and start walking out of the shop.Greater Manchester Police said: "We’ve had charges authorised for a 59-year-old man after an initial report of an attempted abduction of a child at a store in Heywood a week ago."
