Just in from court
A man accused of the murder of 43 year-old Gareth Hart in Ingoldmells has appeared in court. Joseph Allan Malek, 33, is also charged with the possession of a knife following the death of the Rotherham pub landlord in the early hours of April 6 in the Lincolnshire seaside village.
Lincolnshire Police attended Sea Lane following an initial call at 12.57am reporting an altercation near Fantasy Grill and Balti. Mr Hart was found injured and died shortly afterwards due to the stab wounds, police previously said. Malek, of Market Place, Belper, Derbyshire, appeared via video link from HMP Lincoln before His Honour Judge Simon Hirst at Lincoln Crown Court, sitting at Lincoln Magistrates' Court, on Wednesday, April 12, reports Lincolnshire Live.Dressed is a grey T-shirt and trousers, Malek spoke only to confirm his name during the brief hearing.
Makek was represented by barrister Jasmine Leng who was unable to take instructions. The judge said he was told Malek did not wish to make an application for bail at the hearing on April 12 but may do in future. The judge told him: "You will next be before the court on May 30 when you will be expected to enter a plea. Your trial is going to take place on October 9 if there is going to be a trial. In the meantime, for reasons I have explained, you remain remanded in custody."
