A bomb disposal team was called to the incident in Shettleston on Monday night

A man has been arrested following the alleged discovery of "potentially hazardous chemicals" in a Glasgow flat, which saw dozens of people evacuated from their homes.

Officers cordoned off several streets and residents who were affected were evacuated leaving them without their homes overnight. Residents were allowed to return home on Tuesday morning while seven officers from Police Scotland and a Scottish Police Authority forensic service staff member were given medical treatment at the scene after taking unwell.
