Police attended Woodthorpe Park at the weekend

A man has been arrested after two women were followed in a Nottinghamshire park, causing them "alarm and distress". Cristian Lacatusu of Norwood Road, Nottingham, was arrested shortly after the reports were made at Woodthorpe Park on Sunday, August 11.

The 25-year-old was charged under the Public Order Act and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court next month. He was released on bai and police said investigations are continuing. A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “Officers attended Woodthorpe Park on 11 August after receiving reports of a male following two women, causing them alarm and distress. A search was conducted and a male matching the description was detained.“Cristian Lacatusu, aged 25, of Norwood Road, Nottingham, has been charged with an offence under Section 4A of the Public Order Act; behaviour intending to cause alarm, harassment or distress.

"The investigation is ongoing.” One of the women who says she was followed at the park described the experience as "scary". Speaking anonymously to Nottinghamshire Live, the 36-year-old from Mapperley said: "It’s already quite common as a female to feel like you have to be aware when you’re walking.I carry a key in my hand as we’ve already got this in our minds."
